The plan is simple...early on October 4th, gather the participating families together in some central location in your town to divide up the streets and blocks each family will cover. Inform everyone on just where to meet after all are finished with their territory. Then, hit the streets! Knock on doors, hand out literature, and talk to people on why it's important for them to turn out to vote for Barack Obama on November 4th. If your child is well spoken, then let them talk, too! If they're too young or shy to talk, let them hand out the fliers. Let's bring it home to people, especially the cynics, just who has the biggest stake in this election! Then, after everyone's finished, meet at a public park for a potluck picnic/barbecue. This will allow the kids to play, and might just attract smoe passers-by to check out what the occaision is. Every person we contact can make a difference!
So on October 4th, mobilize your family for the Change We Need!

I already have some ideas on how to organize this, but I don't have the time right now. I'll post again in a few hours.
Meanwhile: do you have concrete ideas to promote this event?

What options do you have on the barackobama web site to organize this event?
The smart thing to do would be to use both site (the official Obama site and this one) to document and organize this event.
To organize such an event in a city/town, I think the following information would be needed:
- location (state - city - address of the meeting place).
- date (Oct 4th) and precise time.
- which official Obama office would the event depend on: you'd need their help to provide you with the material to register people to vote.
- roughly how many people intend to attend: you'd need to know how much material to prepare.
- what time to meet back at the original location.
- ?
Then we can make a list of all cities where such an event is planned.

Hi there! I am Willowe, Taliesin's wife. I saw that he had posted about this event on Daily Kos a while back and I followed the link to your site here. I realize that there is only one day until the event, but if anyone else is interested in planning another one, by all means it should be done!!! We have four more weekends (after this one) before the big election day, so we definitely need to get out the vote in whatever way we can! If anyone here would like to plan an event in their area, I suggest visiting the Obama website (http://www.barackobama.com/index.php) and using the tools available on his website. Also... we have been in touch with the local Obama Headquarters here in Akron and they have been a great help in motivating and organizing canvassing events. You can find your local headquarters through the Obama site as well! Now is our chance to participate and have an impact in a history changing election!
